Fittingly, my first post here has to be - how I became a 'Cat Lady'!
Growing up, we had a beautiful ginger girl called Cassie. She was a round barrel of a cat and spent her days happily mooching around the large garden with our ducks, sleeping, eating and having cuddles!
Move forward many years, We had our first house and there was one thing missing...... This little darling came into our lives. We called him 'Ziggy'.... I'd always said if I had a ginger girl I'd call her Thomasina (from my favourite childhood film) or a black boy - Carbonel (from my favourite childhood book).... Here we were with a ginger and white boy in the car and my mind was blank.... My husband suggested Ziggy from Quantum Leap..... It suited him perfectly... He really was destined to be Ziggy.....!
Ziggy was a fireball of energy, he was under a year old and suddenly ping pong balls were flying up and down the stairs and my arms were filled every night with my darling boy.
We spent the next 12 years together - when sadly he passed in my arms last year. Ziggy was my life and my everything. I have him tattooed on my arm, in the same place he slept for over 12 years.... I will never forget him. I think of him every day
Ziggy is the reason I became a 'Cat Lady'.
