What services do you provide?
'The Cat Lady' is a cat sitting service for the Thanet area. I am based in Ramsgate and offer first class pet care services. I will make visits to your home once or twice a day (or more as requested) to feed, change water bowls and litter trays and provide companionship for your cats whilst you are away.
Who is ‘The Cat Lady’?
My name’s Lucy, I live in Ramsgate and have volunteered for local animal rescues for a number of years now. This has included fostering cats for RSPCA and Cats in Crisis. I have fostered many rescue cats that needed a little more time and attention before they could find a new loving permanent home. For this reason, I have plenty of experience dealing with nervous cats and sensitive cats. My husband and I have 13 rescue cats ourselves and spend a great deal of time working with animals. My cat sitting business is not only a job to me, it gives me the opportunity to do something I love and working with cats is the greatest job in the world.
What areas do you cover?
All across the Thanet area including Ramsgate, Margate, Cliftonville, Westgate, Manston, Minster, Birchington and Broadstairs.
What are the costs?
Please contact me individually for costs. This will take into consideration how many visits are needed, the length of time required and whereabouts you are located. I will always reply as soon as possible and am available by phone, email and social media pages (Facebook).
Are you insured?
Yes I am fully insured with Petplan Sanctuary.
Will you look after dogs or other pets?
I also care for smaller pets like fish, rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, birds and hamsters, changing water and food bowls and cleaning out cages/ hutches.
I'm also able to care for smaller friendly dogs too - for letting out for toilets etc but at heart I am a cat lady!
How many visits a day will you provide?
I will tailor this to your requirements so will always check how many visit a day you prefer. Most people usually choose 1 or 2 visits daily (but I also have customers up to 4 times daily)
Are you DBS (CRB) police checked & certificated?
Yes, I am fully DBS (CRB) police checked and certification can be provided upon request.
In an emergency if my pet needs to go to the vet, will you take them?
Yes, I provide every customer with an emergency contact form. I would immediately try to get hold of you and if I can't, will call your back up contact from the form. I take cats immediately to the vets in the event of an emergency.
Do you have experience with rare or exotic pets?
I have looked after many snakes, chameleons, lizards etc but have no formal training. I am happy to follow instructions given but also need them to be clear and precise. I am happy to feed worms etc but would not personally feel happy giving live large locusts, mice etc. This is my personal preference. Please speak to me about your individual needs so we can discuss.

Will you come and visit us beforehand?
Yes, I will always arrange a visit to meet you & your kitties and to discuss your individual requirements. This is very important so you feel comfortable before you go away and we cover everything.
How can we pay?
Payment is usually left out for collection when work commences or bank transfer (please ask for banking information). Please contact me if you'd prefer to send by Paypal.
What experience do you have?
'The Cat Lady' has been running since July 2014. I have been looking after cats my whole life. I have 13 rescue cats of my own and also have been involved in cat rescue and fostering with the RSPCA and Cats in Crisis. Are you available for festive periods such as Christmas and Easter?

Do you have experience with rare or exotic pets?

How do I find out availability and make a booking?

What are the benefits over using a cattery?
I tailor my service to your requirements when I visit, allowing your cat’s routine to remain unchanged whilst you are away. This means your cat can stay in the comfort of their own home, with their own familiar sights and smells and is less stressful for both you and your little ones. I'm also often cheaper than a cattery too! (especially if you have a few kitties)
Are you able to provide services for long term bookings i.e. hospital times or working abroad?
Yes. Please contact and we can discuss your individual needs and requirements.
Will you be able to provide extra services such as turning lights on, closing curtains and putting rubbish out?
Yes. This is always part of our conversation on the initial visit to discuss your individual needs and requirements. I can also water plants as well.
