Luna
My rescue cat
So next message I received was urgent! A mum with her 4 1 day old kittens had been found in a shed and needed to come into foster immediately. We got the crate all set up in the corner of our dining room and I felt excited, scared and a little bit unsure to be honest. I'd looked after kittens but never a mum with newborns and I was just terrified if anything went wrong. It's a learning curve and we just saw a kitty in need - and decided we would do our very best.

I went to collect the new mum & her babies and drove back from Margate with them in a large cat carrier on the passenger seat next to me.... My heart in my mouth, as we turned corners and stopped at traffic lights!!!

Luna was amazing from the start - She was so super affectionate but also a fantastic mum! She would leap out the crate for fusses but always go back to check on her little furry bundles and to feed them frequently. I couldn't work out how this little lady had come to be an unwanted stray - Clearly at some point she must have had a loving home, as she was such a sweetheart! Sad how we will never know and how these little furries end up in these situations.

Re-homing Luna's babies was easy peasy- I mean look at them! Merlin & Magic went off to a new home in Manston and Bakewell & Elvis went to their new home.

Luna remained with us.... Luna went on the website... the rehoming page on Facebook.... Luna was looking for a new home..... Nobody offered a home to Luna. Nothing happened... Well that's not true. We fell in love...

Luna is now a dribbly old elderly lady and a little bit nuts. When she'd come to us, we just assumed she was a young mum. Obviously not.... It makes me more sad, wondering how many litters she'd had and what she'd endured. Luna is our wonderful old lady and I love her to bits!
